Police identified one of the suspects believed to be responsible for a mass shooting at a New Orleans playground that left injured 17 people.

Police have said children were among the victims, including a 10-year-old boy.

Several hundred people were gathered at the playground for a block party when witnesses say at least two groups of individuals began shooting at each other.

Allen is in custody and declined to give a statement to investigators, according to a tweet from the New Orleans Police Department.

He will face 17 counts of attempted first-degree murder, police spokesman Tyler Gamble said Friday (Nov. 27). It is bounded by the city and was particularly devastated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified Allen as one of the suspects involved in the shooting.

Police Superintendent Michael Harrison said that “we need videos, we need photos, we need people to come forward, according to the report”. Police said on Friday he is believed to be one of several suspects involved in the shoot-out.
