Cavaliers 95, Hornets 90

The Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James and the Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry were today named NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, November 16 through Sunday, November 22. Andrew Bogut did miss 15 games last season, but we saw how the Warriors played when he wasn’t on the floor in the NBA Finals or in this season. The “Big O” was a triple-double machine. James said the two stars have been friends since Newton played college football at Auburn.

LeBron James had 25 points and 13 rebounds and continued his mastery over Charlotte as the Cleveland Cavaliers pulled out a 95-90 victory over the Hornets on Friday night.

Now in his 13th National Basketball Association season, James ranks 19th in career points (25,274), 126th in rebounds (6,602) and 25th in assists (6,395).

With his fifth assist, James moved past Norm Nixon (6,386) into 25th place and moved alongside Robertson, who finished his Hall of Fame career with 26,710 points and 9,887 assists. James will soon eclipse Robertson’s scoring total, and the unselfish superstar is a good bet to pass the guard on the assist list as well.

Charlotte’s Kemba Walker, who has been around for most of the losses to James, called it frustrating not to be able to beat him.

“It’s a focus, it’s a mentality that we have that we put on display sporadically, but it’s something that we have to do consistently”, Jones said. “So none of that would be possible without them”.

Jared Sullinger had 18 points and 15 rebounds in three quarters and Isaiah Thomas scored 21 points, leading the Boston Celtics to a 111-78 rout of the Washington Wizards. In fact, they should feel quite good – they played one of their worst offensive games this season and came this close to winning.

It’s great that LeBron and Jones are trying to get the team more focused, but the pressure isn’t on yet.

“I thought our guys took the other night a little personally”, Cavs coach David Blatt said.

“That gives me chills to even hear that”, Blatt said. “That’s an unbelievable, awesome accomplishment”.

B- DEFENSE: The Cavs had a sizeable rebounding advantage much of the game and James churned out Hornets foul trouble for Williams and P.J. Hairston.

Love reeled off 17 straight during a five-minute burst of scoring in the second quarter that included a trio of three-pointers.

James fittingly distributed praise to those who helped him reach the milestone.

Orlando rallied from an early 12-point deficit to take a 42-34 lead in the second quarter before centre Kevin Love heated up. “He didn”™t like the intensity or physicality of Wednesday”™s loss at the Toronto Raptors, then was away from his family on Thanksgiving and watched his beloved Dallas Cowboys get dismantled by the Carolina Panthers.
