Vardy sets EPL record by scoring in 11th straight game

Leicester striker Jamie Vardy Leicester broke the English Premier League record by scoring for the 11th straight game in a 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Saturday. The Leicester man’s streak began with a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth on August 29.

Kasper Schmeichel’s quick throw from goal – much like his father – released Christian Fuchs on the right wing, with the German slipping a perfectly weighted pass for Vardy to control and fire past David De Gea, to send The King Power – and indeed the watching football world – into raptures, breaking the all-time scoring record in successive Premier League games. With his goal, he extended his lead at the top in the race for the Premier League golden boot.

Asked whether United should be happy with a point against Ranieri’s high-flying side, Schweinsteiger added: “Why?”

“We also gave away another chance and so we could have lost the game in spite of our dominance”.

That was the culmination of a half that had centred around Vardy, the former non-league player who has only been in the ranks of full-time professional football for three-and-a-half years.

Several Manchester United supporters took to social media, especially Twitter to voice their frustration, while calling for Van Gaal to either change his style or step away from the job.

Van Nistelroy, with an excellent show of class, congratulated Vardy on the record, and expressed his joy for him via his official Instagram account.

“You can imagine that we have prepared [to stop] that because that is Leicester’s quality”. Playing for Sheffield United, Dunne scored 12 goals in succession.

The Austrian spotted the run in behind of Vardy and split the United defence, allowing Vardy to net his record-breaking goal with a cool finish past David de Gea.

Manchester United levelled the score before half-time when Bastian Schweinsteiger headed home a Daley Blind corner.

Vardy now has 13 goals in his 11-game run and a goal against Swansea on Saturday will break Stan Mortenson’s record of goals in 11 top-flight games in the 1950-51 season.

“I heard Schweinsteiger say that Vardy was like Klose”, he said. In the third or fourth phase we have to create more, but it is hard because you have seen where Leicester City stand on the pitch – it was in the 60 metre area.

The game between Leicester City and Manchester United was in the second half as at the time of preparing this report. “But the main thing was the performance and I think we put in a very good shift today”. After Vardy scored Van Nistelrooy promptly took to his official Instagram page to praise the Leicester forward.

“We want to keep him here for a long time”.

Leicester opted to sit back and looked to catch United on the break, as they had done to great effect in the first.

It was a typical United performance where they controlled the ball and dominated with 69% of the possession, but like so many other matches, there was no penetration from the attackers.
