Miles’ final game with LSU on Saturday

Saturday morning, an athletic department source said that, “We would be insane not to at least look at Coach Miles”. When asked about maintaining his top recruiting class, Miles said that the media’s gloomy reporting was a reason why some recruits de-committed.

Let’s say they fire Miles, then what?

Per Tiger Rag and NOLA.com, Miles told people at the Gridiron Club meeting that he would not be LSU’s coach after Saturday night.

“It’s nice to be the head coach at LSU”, Miles said.

Rumors have been swirling all week about Miles’ job status.

Yet, some of the very aspects of LSU’s game that have bothered Miles’ critics showed up again. There were also several signs in support of Miles and asking for the firing of Alleva.

Sure, there are a plethora of other talented coaches out there who would love the LSU job, but the Tigers aren’t going to want just anyone. “I hope he remains our coach”.

Miles left to a standing ovation, according to the report.

As the Tigers had the game wrapped up, Miles was saluted by the crowd, which started chanting his name. But regardless of what happens on the field today, it would be hard to see a future for both Alleva and Miles together at LSU next year, given this level of apparent mistrust.

During the first quarter of Saturday’s game, a banner hung from a suite on the east side of Tiger Stadium.

Over the past 10 days, Miles has battled with what he calls “prevailing” distractions about his future in Baton Rouge.

Sophomore receiver Malachi Dupre, the Tigers’ leading receiver this season, couldn’t put his finger on why LSU’s passing game is mired in inconsistency.

“Some live questioners were brought to tears at the event at TJ Ribs on Acadian Thruway”, The Advocate reported. He was the most successful offensive coordinator in the history of LSU from 2000-2004 under former coach Nick Saban and in 2005 and “06 under Miles”. They did the same following the victory. Fournette has rushed for more than 100 yards just once in the past three weeks, after recording seven consecutive 150-yard performances to start the season.

It was another “W” for a résumé full of them. He is 111-32 at the school and has the best winning percentage of any coach in the modern era of LSU football.

“Lot of good kids there I really care for and wish them the best”, Chavis continued, “but not on this Saturday”. He won the BCS National Championship in 2007 and lost in the national title game in 2011. After starting 8-0 and being ranked No. 2 with hopeful eyes on the College Football Playoff, the Tigers are in the midst of a three-game conference losing streak that started with a 30-16 loss to rival Alabama before a 17-point defeat at the hands of Arkansas and culminated with a convincing 21-point defeat against Ole Miss.

Chavis spent six seasons with Miles.

“Anybody we go against, if we play the way that we should play, we’ll dominate him”, safety Keanu Neal said.
