The Golden State Warriors became the first team to start an National Basketball Association season 16-0 Tuesday night, blowing out the Los Angeles Lakers basically from the opening tip en route to a 111-77 victory over their California rival.

The Warriors surpassed the 15-0 starts of the 1948-1949 Washington Capitals and the 1993-1994 Houston Rockets, playing in front of a standing-room-only crowd at Oracle Arena.
