Man Pointed Gun at 76ers Center Jahlil Okafor During Old City Altercation

Philadelphia 76ers center Jahlil Okafor, whose fight in Boston drew headlines this week after TMZ released video of the incident, was reportedly involved in a separate altercation in Old City this October during which an unidentified individual pointed a gun at the 19-year-old National Basketball Association rookie.

The man said in the police report that Okafor and another man came toward his group and requested phone numbers from some of the women. When the female friends refused their advances, a verbal altercation ensued.

Okafor soon broke loose and began pushing and punching the victim, knocking him to the ground, the man told police.

After initially waiting for a complaint, Boston police say they are now investigating the fight between Sixers rookie and a fan, according to reports.

Facing the media on Friday afternoon for the first time since the incident occurred, Okafor was remorseful about the actions that took place and showed up all over the internet. [I am] still dealing with the league and the team. “We pay attention. We walk that line of doing what we need to to help educate and discipline anybody and help them understand if the situation were to present itself again how are you going to handle it”.

The Inquirer continued to state, “There is no known report of the incident and Okafor declined to address it, according to the Inquirer report”.

The 76ers face the Rockets in Houston on Friday night. “You’ll never win a game, ‘” a source close to Okafor told ESPN’s Jeff Goodman. It’s bad enough when Okafor’s 0-16 team confines those adjectives to its exploits on a basketball court, but much worse when they spill over into real life.

“We can’t put our head under a rug, and play holier than thou”, Brown said. “Something I’m embarrassed about”.

“We are all staying together, working extremely hard”, he said.

The scuffle happened after the 76ers lost to the Boston Celtics. Some blamed Brett Brown for not setting a curfew for his team following a tough loss and having to hop on a plane the next day.
