Warm and breezy for the weekend

Back here in the ArkLaTex we’ll see a BIG temperatures swing with 70s on Thanksgiving to highs only reaching the low 50s on Sunday with very soggy conditions. Highs will be cooler today with temperatures in the upper 30s with a few traditional warm spots hitting the 40-degree mark.

“Those numbers would be a more typical January high and low”, said Karl Swanberg, a weather service forecaster in Sacramento.

“I would still bundle up”, Buccola said. Temperatures will remain on the cold side, lingering in the 30s and 40s. The temperature will be in the mid 40s to low 50s by late in the morning with partly to mostly cloudy skies. Rain will become widespread and steady for much of the remainder of Thanksgiving Day.

SUNDAY: Rain moves east through the OH valley to the deep south through the day while another area of snow develops from Nebraska into the northern Plains late in the day Sunday and overnight.

TUESDAY: Rain chances stick around as the front pushes through. Rain will also play a factor Tuesday and Wednesday as the mercury levels off around 50. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. The clear skies will be around for a majority of the holiday. Temperatures across the northwestern OK region may be cold enough ( at or below freezing) for some light freezing rain for a small period Saturday morning. Light south wind becoming southwest 5 to 9 miles per hour in the morning.

A trace of precipitation (rain plus melted snow) was recorded at the airport, keeping the November total at 2.78 inches, 0.93 inches above normal. For now, we are calling for partly cloudy skies inland and mostly cloudy skies at the Shoreline.
