Palestinian shot dead in Jerusalem after stabbing Israeli officer

A Palestinian has been shot dead by Israeli border authorities after stabbing a police officer in Jerusalem. Forensics are working at the site.

The incident occurred near the city’s Damascus Gate into the walled Old City.

A few hours later, Magen David Adom rescue services reported another stabbing attack near a bus in the city.

Additionally, Israel announced more stringent monitoring of Palestinian vehicles traveling in the West Bank, after several Palestinian drivers were seen dropping off terrorists at crowded intersections manned by Israeli security forces and some using their cars to ram Israelis.

More than 100 Palestinians have been killed during this period, with some killed in clashes with Israeli security forces, and others killed by security forces and vigilante citizens while allegedly trying to carry out attacks.

The protest, which took place in the northern Palestinian town of Umm Al Fahem, was one of the largest Palestinian rallies in Israel in recent years.

Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon told Israelis to be prepared for more attacks by Palestinians.

The IDF also prepared the home of Amar Arafat Issa Zakik who wounded six soldiers at the entrance to the West Bank village of Beit Umar on Friday.

“On this global day of solidarity, let us reaffirm our commitment to bring about the justice and peace that the people of Israel and Palestine deserve”, said United nations General Secretary General Ban Ki moon through his representative. However, senior officials at the Israeli intelligence agency warned of the consequences of this collapse as opposed to the joy expressed by a small amount of ministers at this possible collapse which “may serve the interests of Israel”.

“Since the start of the popular uprising, the pace of administrative arrests had accelerated as the number (of those held without trial) reached about 500, including detainees from Jerusalem (East al-Quds) as well as Israeli Arabs”, it further read. Other officers opened fire at the attacker and seriously wounded him.
