Alleva declined comment for the past two weeks, putting off any public address until after the season. Fournette became the first LSU rusher to eclipse the 1,700 yard mark in a season with 1,741 yards.

Some fans carried signs reading “Fire Alleva”, and the athletic director was booed during a taped message that played on the videoboard before kickoff.

It could have cost LSU about $15 million to buyout Miles, though the school could have recouped some of that is Miles moved into a another job. The large number should’ve serve as a deterrent.

“There’s not a serious overhaul (to be done) because the motor seems to be pretty stinking strong”, Miles asserted.

When have you seen a team part with a successful coach so clearly revered by his fans and players? With a record of 111-32, plus two SEC championships, he is arguably the most successful coach in school history.

Alleva did not take any questions from members of the media.

Les Miles celebrated several victories Saturday night, then revealed a few of his emotions as rumors swirled about his future at LSU. He could have put everything to rest with a simple statement a lot earlier.

ESPN’s Joe Schad said a couple factors were behind LSU’s decision to keep Miles around. Taking the ball at the goal line, Guice broke numerous tackles and spun out of several more for a 75 yard return to to the Texas A&M 25.

It was an emotional scene at Tiger Stadium after LSU won against Texas A&M. And that includes Alabama, the team coached by Nick Saban, the man Miles will forever be compared against.

“We came out and limited their big plays”.

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, even, offered kinds words for the coach in a message on Twitter: Les Miles “is a great coach and a better man. He is a fantastic ambassador for our state”. The offense desperately needs to improve if LSU wishes to compete in the SEC West.

Miles took the helm in 2005, has never had a losing season with the Tigers and has had the team ranked inside the Top 10 of the Associated Press poll at some point every year. Did LSU have a good option if he didn’t? Jimbo Fisher has some newly publicized baggage remaining over the Jameis Winston allegations that would make his transition to LSU awkward.
