Syracuse responded with a run of their own.

Cooney didn’t realize that the shot clock was about to expire.

The Orange got back in the game with a 7-0 run, and eventually tied it in Tyler Lydon’s jumper with 3:22 left in the half.

Texas A&M got 16 first-half points from Jones and took two-point lead into halftime. Texas A&M just defeated #10 Gonzaga earlier today 62-61. I just wish our learning curve was faster.

SU shook off a five-minute scoreless streak when Cooney dropped in a fast break lay-up.

Caris LeVert led MI with 21 points.

Check back tomorrow for full coverage of the game against Texas A&M. But let’s keep this much in perspective about the last game: It takes a really good team to come from 21 points behind and get the deficit down to one over a span of about 17 minutes. After beating MI 74-60 in the late game Wednesday night, the Huskies’ turnaround for the Syracuse game was seven hours shorter than their opponent’s. Both players will have to come up big all season long if the Huskies are going to stay in the top 25 and make the 2016 NCAA tournament.

Although this battle will be played for third place, the victor will get a huge resume booster, which is what college basketball is all about – well, at least when it comes to being part of March Madness.

With about 40 seconds to play, Syracuse lead by three with the ball. Charlotte is 1-3 on the season, having previously lost to East Carolina and Elon, which MI beat 88-68. Richardson again replied, this time with a driving three-point-play.

While they play in different conferences now, both Ollie and Boeheim said they would be interested in adding the other to the schedule for a future a nonconference series. Michael Gbinije led all scorers on the team with 26 points on 9-for-11 shooting. Not only is that completely false at this point, but the notion that he’s a good shooter seems less and less accurate with each passing game. But Zak Irvin missed a corner 3-pointer, Purvis grabbed the rebound and – after a timeout – Hamilton buried a huge 3-pointer with 1:09 remaining to pretty uch seal the deal. The attempt got a favorable bounce and dropped through the net. The Connecticut Huskies have a top-tier offense with an offensive rating of 126.3 (ranked ninth). The fifth-year senior finished the possession he started by dropping in a floater while being fouled.

Syracuse: Finished 11 for 25 from the 3-point line….

Syracuse and Texas A&M were never supposed to make it this far at the Battle 4 Atlantis. But Syracuse quickly answers, with Lydon and Gbinije hitting threes in transition to help the Orange take a 50-47 lead with 12:42 to go. Malachi Richardson scored 16 points, including 13 after halftime. The Huskies also dealt with Trevor Cooney ploughing into the lane and ending up at the free throw line.

Texas A&M was led by Jalen Jones, who scored a season-high 23 points. He was the first player to reach double figures when his reverse layup gave A & M a 19-18 lead. Tyler Davis and Admon Gilder each chipped in with eight points.

The Orange will now return home to the Dome for their matchup against the Wisconsin Badgers on December 2nd. Boeheim has scheduled Villanova, St. John’s and, this season, Georgetown (as has UConn), and it’s refreshing to hear he’s amenable to rekindling the rivalry with the Huskies, as well.
