A man standing on the shoulder after his vehicle struck the cattle trailer earlier and two van passengers died in the incident late Saturday on Interstate 287, New Jersey State Police said.
Various video footage showed the scene where three people were killed in an I-287 accident Saturday night, where cows were reportedly “thrown across the road”.
Officers only reopened the section of interstate, in Bernards Township, New Jersey, this morning after last night’s horrific accident. The crash was reported around 10:30 p.m., near milepost 29.1. A third victim died at Morristown Medical Center, where four others were taken. Troy Chase sustained minor injuries and was transported to Overlook Medical Center.
Two people in Morristown Memorial Hospital suffered serious injuries but are described as now being in a stable condition. Other livestock survived and were taken away.
Police say the crash remains under investigation.
