“We are all concerned by terrorism”.

Both Obama and Hollande pointedly ignored the plane episode in their opening remarks at a White House news conference and, when pressed for a response, defended North Atlantic Treaty Organisation ally Turkey.

Earnest said the usa would “continue the conversation” with Putin but suggested Obama would make no promises to Hollande during Tuesday’s visit.

In the aftermath of the Paris Attacks, French President Francois Hollande says the first call he got was from President Obama.

So far Putin appears not to be backing down on any of Paris’ preconditions and the downing of its jet – one of the most serious publicly acknowledged clashes between Russian Federation and a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation member for half a century – has stiffened his resolve.

According to CNN Politics, the presidents are considering intensifying the attacks on ISIS in Syria and Iraq, especially after the Paris attacks, which seemed to have opened a new phase of the war on terror.

But during a meeting with his national security team, Obama was briefed that there is “no specific, credible threat to the homeland from ISIL”, the White House said.

US President Barack Obama and French President Francois Hollande have pressed Russia to focus its attacks in Syria on Islamic State militants after Turkey heightened tensions in the region by downing a Russian plane.

Given the rash of attacks, Obama is now facing increased pressure at home and overseas to ramp up US efforts to destroy the militants.

France and Britain are already part of a U.S.-led coalition that has been bombing ISIS targets, while Russian Federation is conducting separate airstrikes against ISIS and other groups in coordination with the forces of Syria’s President.

Last September 30, Russian Federation began strikes in Syria on terrorist targets, following the request of the Syrian Government and after Putin’s appeal for a world coalition against ISIL, something refused by the United States.

“We view this as the formation of a wide anti-terrorist coalition under the aegis of the United Nations”, Putin said.

“We can not imagine the Syrians getting together, gathering around the leader who is responsible for some – the most of 300,000 dead in a few years”.

“In that stadium, concert hall, restaurants and cafes we see our own”, Obama said. But the sharp difference over Assad’s role is a major sticking point to a comprehensive political settlement for Syria.

After Cameron made his case, Labour Party leader leader Jeremy Corbyn said that he would not support airstrikes in Syria, saying that the current proposal lacked a coherent strategy.
