Police remain on scene at the Walmart stores located in Windham and Scarborough. Police work with employees to make sure the store is evacuated.

Houlton Police and Calais Police said similar threats came to their departments. A Ville Platte Police Department spokesman said no explosive was found at the Walmart in that city, and the store was cleared for reopening.

The LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office Saturday evening released the following on their social media page: “Jena Walmart has received a bomb threat”.

In Scarborough, a bomb threat was reported at 7:49 p.m.at the store at 500 Gallery Blvd. Then, with the help of a bomb-sniffing dog if one’s available, they search the store.

Police said Sunday that the bomb scares at Wal-Mart stores in Maine Saturday night were taken very seriously. More than eight ME stores were said to have been affected by the bomb threats. “They all came in about the same time frame”.

Houlton Walmart customers were cooperative for the most part during the evacuation, though some were reluctant to abandon their shopping, according to McKenna.

“It lets us know that other people are dealing with it and that maybe the threat isn’t as unsafe as we thought”, Savidge said.

In Maine, multiple stores were evacuated and later reopened after police told store managers that searches had turned up no credible evidence of bombs, according to WGME-TV, and shoppers were allowed to return to the stores. Although officials confirmed that it was a false alarm, investigators are now trying to determine if the calls were made by the same person. The threats were similar to threats reported in several other states.
