Gerald Green agrees to 1-year deal with Heat

In what looked like the team they built last season was going to dissolve, it quickly reconstructed.

The 6’3, 190-pound guard was the NBA’s Most Improved Player and All-NBA Third Team during the 2013-2014 season.

Though the Heat has a $3.4 million taxpayer’s midlevel exception, Miami has been reluctant to use it because of the luxury tax implications.

Shooting guard Gerald Green has agreed a one-year deal to join the Heat, according to multiple reports, reuniting him in Miami with newly resigned point guard Goran Dragic.

Green will be the ideal complement to Wade, because we all know how much Dwyane loves to dominate the ball and Green thrives by running without it on fast breaks.

“With a complete roster, then we can contend in the East”, Riley said. “I see in this organization that everybody has your back and that means a lot”.

Green will again be playing with Heat point guard Goran Dragic, who was his teammate with the Suns and was traded to Miami last season.

“You have to have high expectations”, Riley said. We have moved on from what happened past year.

While these Miami Heat rumors might be considered small compared to some of the other National Basteball Association offseason chatter, this could be a really good under-the-radar signing by the front office. “I’m really looking forward to that challenge”, Dragic said. After a season in Indiana where he struggled, Green finally arrived in Phoenix and fit right in with the young core.

Guard Tyler Johnson sustained a broken jaw in Wednesday’s game against the Clippers and will miss the remainder of Summer League, which includes a game Friday in Orlando and at least five in Las Vegas.

A person with knowledge of the negotiations says LaMarcus Aldridge and the Miami Heat have spoken about his future plans, and that a formal conversation is scheduled for Thursday night.
