On Wednesday, hundreds of mourners turned out for Jamar Clark’s funeral at Shiloh Temple International Ministries.

The protesters were shot after they confronted several people near the north side police precinct that has been the site of demonstrations since police fatally shot 24-year-old Jamar Clark.
Impassioned speeches from his relatives and pastors were occasionally interrupted by shouts and applause.
Gov. Mark Dayton says that he asked Clark’s family and representatives of the Black Lives Matter group protesting his death to meet with the federal government lawyers.
“We need change for all because I believe the police can offer the protection and service they project instead of hiding behind a mask of injustice”, Laddea said.
At Jamar Clark’s Funeral, some call for an end to the protests while others refuse to stand down until justice is served. This follows nine days of demonstrations outside the Fourth Precinct in response to the death of Jamar Clark, a young African-American man who died after being shot by a Minneapolis police officer. But some people who said they saw the shooting said the 24-year-old was handcuffed.
The Rev. Richard Howell praised protesters for pressure that he said helped get a federal civil-rights investigation and the names of the officers involved.
Steven Belton, interim president of the Minneapolis Urban League, echoed those sentiments, saying protesters had achieved most of what they wanted.
“Jamar, your life did and does have objective”, he said to a standing ovation. “Your death was not in vain”, Howell said.
Activists camped outside of a police station to protest the killing of a black man by Minneapolis police have a quiet night planned out of respect for the man’s family.
Rep. Keith Ellison on Wednesday said, regarding the shooting at the Minneapolis Fourth Precinct protest on Monday night, “was appalling” and is praying for the victims to have a speedy recovery. Police say three of the men are white and one is Asian. As a result, the county asked for and was granted an extension to file charges against the men connected to the shooting. “But in light of tonight’s shootings, the family feels out of imminent concern for the safety of the occupiers, we must get the occupation of the 4th precinct ended and onto the next step”. Police have not said which officer fired the fatal shot.
Protest organizers said the Thanksgiving meal, which they dubbed “Blacksgiving”, was aimed at showing gratitude for support demonstrators have received from near and far. Five protesters suffered injuries, all of which were non-life-threatening. “We can’t back down”.
“At some point during an altercation that ensued between the officers and the individual, an officer discharged his weapon, striking the individual”, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety said in a statement. Clark’s face covered with a thin white veil. Protesters have complained that grand juries are unlikely to indict police officers. Police had issued a warning Friday night, asking demonstrators to be vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to authorities.
Wesley Martin was among those shot.
