Run game could end Packers’ slump
Here’s a look at how the Bears divvied out playing time in Thursday night’s 17-13 win over the Packers. Aaron Rodgers threw a pass to James Jones on third down, but the receiver could not hold onto the ball and the game was sealed after Davante Adams could not corral a pass on fourth down. Rookie CB Quinten Rollins had a potential interception in his hands but couldn’t hang on.

With cold, driving rain drenching Lambeau Field, the Packers unveiled Favre’s name and retired No. 4 on the stadium facade Thursday night at halftime against the Chicago Bears.
In his first year in Chicago, Fox has instilled confidence in his team that they can hang tough in close games. It’s a red-letter game for us.
“We always accept the challenge”. He said he lost feeling for a while in his left hand, gradually regaining full feeling in three fingers by the end of the game.
For the first time in, well, forever, Rodgers appeared shaky against the Bears, sputtering through a night that saw him complete 22 of 43 passes for 202 yards. Talk at Halas Hall the next week will center around the Bears’ coordinators because their next opponent, San Francisco, interviewed both defensive coordinator Vic Fangio and offensive coordinator Adam Gase before deciding against both.
Green Bay had won six of its previous seven at Lambeau in the series.
When Rodgers threw a career-high 61 passes in a loss to the Detroit Lions earlier this month, the Packers proved they can’t pass their way out of their slump.
“Looking at guys in that locker room that had been here for a minute and maybe not had great success here, Jay included”.
Now, with so many bad records around, it’s hard seeing the Packers (7-4) not making the playoffs, even through the Wild Card spots, where they currently are next to the Atlanta Falcons, who are 6-4, also losing four of their last five games. Favre then went to play for the Minnesota Vikings, the Packers’ NFC North archrivals, for two seasons.
“Difficult loss this evening. He took a couple of shots and played through it”, McCarthy said of Rodgers. The Packers were 3-for-11 on third down.
But McCarthy’s offense couldn’t capitalize, moving quickly up the field on their final two drives only to come up short.
Lacy’s ball security issues continued; he lost a fumble deep in Bears territory, a play that got him benched briefly. Cutler cashed in on Chicago’s next drive by finding Zach Miller for a 3-yard touchdown pass that tied it at 7 with 6:03 left in the half. “So hopefully we can do much of the same, control the clock, get the run game get going”. “The positive signs are that we’re running the ball better”.
Good news: Eddie Lacy seemed put to rest any questions about the running game (17 rushes, 105 yards). He has missed five games this season with groin and shoulder ailments. Sutton has been replaced on defense by Mitch Unrein and Bruce Gaston, who are bigger and play more stout.
“Huge win”, cornerback Tracy Porter declared.
