City win can be Liverpool base camp, says manager Klopp

Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren says his team-mates are beginning to believe in Jurgen Klopp’s methods after their stunning 4-1 Premier League win against title-chasing Manchester City on Saturday.

He said: “I was very fortunate to be in a position where if had stayed at Manchester City, or if I had moved to Liverpool I was going to be happy and in a good place”. Like the Tottenham game, the absence of the big Belgian at centre half meant many chinks were exposed in City’s armour, as they simply could not deal with Liverpool.

But Firmino’s fortunes have changed since his return to fitness that coincided with the arrival of new manager Jurgen Klopp to Anfield, and the German knew exactly what Firmino is capable of. “I’m playing all the time, I’m learning and becoming stronger, so this is all good for me”. We had worked really hard together all week to prepare. At home, it’s a different game and teams might come and sit back and we need to improve that side.

“It was a great team effort and I think that’s the most important thing”.

Carragher went on to talk about the effect of Klopp’s ability to play an organised and structured format, as he praised Klopp’s effect in just 10 days of the global break.

In the five Premier Leagues games managed by Klopp, Liverpool have managed to get eight points with their two victories coming against Chelsea and Man City.

“Then we have to find a solution and we will have a solution but then we have to score goals in the right moments”.

“It was a fake night, a fake game”, Pellegrini said in a television interview. “But having said that, when he came on at the weekend, he did seem more mobile and Klopp did say something about him being quicker on his legs”. The two reasons for that, I think, was to stop Man City – when they were in possession – from playing balls into midfield and force them wide. “I have never seen this team play in the way they did”.

“Emre is a young lad, he’s full of emotion and everything but when you are exhausted in a game, then if you can not make the way back, please don’t make the way forward”, he told NBC. He’s always there at the side of the pitch, I love his enthusiasm, it’s like he goes on the pitch with them – he’s like a twelfth man.
