Memphis coach Justin Fuente hired as new Virginia Tech head coach
One of the nation’s most heralded young coaches, Justin Fuente from the University of Memphis, came off the market when it was confirmed Sunday that he had accepted an offer from Tech, where Beamer is retiring after 29 seasons. That year, London was named the ACC’s coach of the year.

“We are thrilled to welcome Justin, (his wife) Jenny and their three daughters into our Virginia Tech family”, Tech athletic director Whit Babcock said in the release.
After a rocky first season with Virginia, London coached the Cavaliers to the Chick-fil-A Bowl in 2011. Beamer led the program to heights that were considered unreachable at the time he was hired, getting into the BCS National Championship Game in 1999, although they suffered defeat to a supremely talented Florida St. team.
Iowa State To Hire Matt Campbell – Toledo head coach Matt Campbell will reportedly become Iowa State’s next head football coach, according to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg.
IOWA STATE: Iowa State and Toledo’s Matt Campbell have agreed to a six-year contract starting at $2 million for 2016. Beamer announced his impending retirement on November 1, giving Babcock – who arrived in Blacksburg in 2014 from Cincinnati – ample time to get a head start on a busy coaching carousel with what appears to be a very smooth transition away from the legendary coach who made this into an attractive job capable of landing someone like Fuente.
Virginia Tech simply hiring Fuente would be a home run.
As expected, Mike London is no longer the football coach at the University of Virginia. Justin and I share a vision for the future of our program.
Fuente was once the offensive coordinator for TCU during the time Andy Dalton was the QB, he arrived at Memphis in 2012, with a program in shambles. He began his coaching careers as a quarterbacks coach and eventually offensive coordinator at Illinois State. By keeping Foster and Shane Beamer on staff, the strong recruiting and defensive dominance that has maintained strong, even during this recent slide, will continue after Frank Beamer’s departure.
The possibility of a London assistant being retained would be more likely if the new coach is not now a head coach.

Fuente took advantage of the JUCO and public HS that programs like Kansas State had in strategy.
