CPM leader Salim told the house that Rajnath Singh had said Narendra Modi was the first Hindu ruler to come in power after 800 years.
Singh vehemently denied it and said he was never hurt so much in his Parliamentary career as he was today.
But Mr Salim also refused to relent saying “I have not faulted, I quoted the Minister from the interview as per rules, if the contents are wrongly reported then it is the fault of the reporter and the magazine”.
“If any Home Minister makes the kind of a statement that Mohd Salim has attributed to me, he has no right to remain on his post”, the Home Minister added. I speak after weighing every word…
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said Salim’s remarks pertaining to the magazine report on the minister would not go on record and she would examine the issue. “We have given a notice and we are seeking action against the Ministers”, said Tyagi.
The ensuing arguments forced the Chair to adjourn the House four times. Parties in the house want the PM Modi’s statement on Intolerance.
Besides the Congress, the JD-U, CPIM, CPI and Trinamool Congress have also given separate notices for a debate on intolerance under different rules in the Rajya Sabha.
Sudip Bandyopadhyay (TMC), however, alleged that both CPI(M) and BJP seemed to be in connivance and decided not to allow discussion on intolerance to take place.
The changes to the Work range from the one for enabling the first choice of the greatest opposition party within the Lok Sabha, incase there’s no Boss of Weight in the House, to be part of the choice screen for visit of the chairperson and users of Lokpal.
