10-0 Panthers are underdogs, and their coach doesn’t like it
The powerful Panthers are now 10-0 this season after Newton’s career-high five touchdown tosses helped them to a 44-16 thrashing of the Washington Redskins.

Newton carved up the defense, and Carolina’s defense held Washington’s running game to 14 yards.
The Panthers starting quarterback threw four touchdown passes in the first half alone, finished with five for the game, and torched the Redskins in the Panthers 44-16 win.
One day after a blowout win over the Redskins extended the Panthers’ ideal season to 10-0, Cam Newton and Co. are still searching for the respect of Las Vegas. Six of those teams won the Super Bowl.
Jonathan Stewart ran for 102 yards on 21 carries and caught a 12-yard touchdown pass. Olsen, Mike Tolbert, Ted Ginn Jr. and Devin Funchess also caught TD passes.
“They don’t give out trophies for the regular season”, Olsen said. The offense will spend a lot of time on the sideline Sunday, though, if Washington’s 30th-ranked rush defense (135.3 yards per game) can’t find a way to slow down Carolina’s powerful ground game.
“Between the fumbles and the picks, we had a couple short fields”. However, one of the things people don’t take into consideration was that they were playing more than ever thanks to bad offensive play and were worn out by the end. “But apparently they know something we don’t”, Rivera said, via NFL.com. “You know we’ve had a better record in some of our other games where we were underdogs”, Rivera said. Cam Newton led a short touchdown drive on the following series, this time connecting with Greg Olsen for his fourth passing TD on the day and a 28-14 Panthers lead.
Redskins coach Jay Gruden said he believes Newton should be among those in the league MVP discussion.
After linebacker Luke Kuechly stripped Washington running back Matt Jones of the ball and linebacker Thomas Davis recovered the fumble, the Panthers converted again.
“You can’t turn the ball over like that”, Roberts said. However, as the game wore on it became apparent that the Panthers were the superior team. Kirk Cousins completed 22 of his 30 pass attempts, but for just one touchdown and one interception. Down 7-0, the Skins countered with a 56-yard touchdown pass to a wide-open WR DeSean Jackson to tie the game. He had four in the first half against Washington.
NOTES: Roberts’ 99-yard kickoff for a touchdown was the first allowed by the Panthers in 100 games…. That’s small peanuts compared to the AFC, in which Indianapolis had a 23-game streak and New England once had a streak of 21 in the regular season and playoffs. “It was over by halftime when Newton had 167 yards and four touchdown passes, throwing darts into the end zones and ignoring the fool in burgundy and gold holding a sign proclaiming this to be “(Racial slur) Country”.
Packers 30, Vikings 13 – Aaron Rodgers threw for two scores in a statement win for visiting Green Bay (7-3), which ended a three-game skid while snapping Minnesota’s five-game winning streak.
Buccaneers 45, Eagles 17: PHILADELPHIA – Jameis Winston tied a rookie record with five touchdown passes, and Doug Martin ran for 235 yards for Tampa Bay.

Host Eric Bickel asked Quinn how he feels about people seemingly judging Cousins on a week-to-week basis, and the former quarterback for the St. Louis Rams, NY Jets, Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos and Cleveland Browns expressed discontent with the lack of confidence being shown in Cousins.
