Cousins leads Redskins past Giants

When asked about the catch after the game, Beckham told reporters that the catch “doesn’t matter”, because his team still lost, according to the New York Post. Not just because of their record, but because they have the lesser quarterback of the two, because they’ve already lost to the Giants this season (32-21) and their losses have been quite brutal ones so far.

But that’s exactly the Giants’ problem. The Redskins had more losses than wins, 4-6.

And yet, the 5-6 mark shows the team’s vulnerability. He had 167 receptions for 2,102 yards and 20 touchdowns during his time in New England. However, they have needed two dramatic wins (against the Cowboys and 49ers), which means these things kind of even out (completely random, no real numbers behind it) or that the Giants are inconsistent, and there’s no actual way of suggesting they’re better or worse than. They didn’t gut the roster and face a coaching/GM crisis like the Eagles.

They ditched the Charlie Brown act, momentarily, with Cousins driving 57 yards to set up a first down at the 23 to open the second quarter. You know the abilities we have inside our building. Tom Coughlin. Eli Manning. Not to mention, Bashuad Breeland had a really good game vs Odell Beckham Jr. – although he dropped a interception late in the game. They certifiably are not.

It was hardly an impact play, but Nicks, a 2009 Giants first-rounder who spent last season with the Colts and was on the free agent scrap heap for most of this season, was glad to be back.

Cousins was 20 for 29 for 302 yards, including the long TD to Jackson – who taunted the Giants by strutting along the goal line before actually crossing it. That never seemed clearer than it did as the Giants took a beating from Washington Sunday. Beckham remains one of the best offensive weapons in the National Football League, and has allowed the Giants to be virtually one dimensional on offense this season, despite missing some key personnel in their receiving corps for portions of the season. That’s when the Giants began making their comeback.

Manning saw deflected passes intercepted on New York’s first two drives of the game, but Washington couldn’t capitalize.

They gave up a bomb from Kirk Cousins to DeSean Jackson that, even with minimal coverage, could have been prevented.

CINCINNATI – Andy Dalton passed for 233 yards and three touchdowns, including a pair to receiver A.J. Green, helping Cincinnati get back on the winning track with a victory over St. Louis. They did not get a takeaway.

The Redskins snapped a five-game losing streak to the Giants and won their fifth straight home game. Can the Giants gain a win and maintain first within the division? The Cowboys, whose season hit the wall weeks ago, are 2-2. He’s done enough to make you think he could be a starter long-term, but he’s also done enough bad things to make observers cringe.

Of course, practice-field accountability and meetings like the one held Saturday night are about symbolism more than anything else.
