Wilson’s Five Touchdowns Lead Seattle Seahawks Past Pittsburgh Steelers; Jimmy
With 2:10 left, Roethlisberger drove his offense 80 yards on eight plays in 1:14.

Early in the fourth quarter of the Seattle Seahawks’ game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, tight end Jimmy Graham went up in the air to catch a fade route from Russell Wilson, but he did not get back up.
“That’s insane”, said Carroll, who a couple of weeks ago was mildly critical of Wilson’s inconsistency.
“It was as late as you can possibly imagine”, he said. Wilson with a 22-yard pass to Jermaine Kearse, who caught a 12-yard touchdown toss two plays later.
That’s when Baldwin was saying he took third-down numbers “personally”. After the resulting punt, Pittsburgh took over from the 16 yard line. Seattle scored touchdowns on four of five possessions down the stretch before kneeling down and running the clock out.
But it’s fair to note that despite the injuries, the Steelers have somehow remained afloat in a crowded wild card competition behind a surprisingly decent defense, and now have a chance to get ahead of the rest with a few more wins. “We needed every bit of it, obviously”.
If I were your advisor, I’d also tell you to tell the loud-mouthed columnist that the Seahawks are in fantastic shape given the playoff situation in the NFC.
Tackle Marcus Gilbert (5.6), quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (4.7) and wide receiver Markus Wheaton (4.4) received the top offensive grades for the Steelers. Trailing by five, Roethlisberger was able to help push Steelers offense to the Seattle 3-yard line with 3:02 remaining and a tough fourth down decision to be made.
The reason: turnovers. Pittsburgh (6-5) threw four interceptions – two by Roethlisberger and two by Landry Jones – included a failed fake field goal attempt in the first half. “Too often this season Seattle’s defense has been asked to do just that, and more often than the past three seasons the defense has not been up to the task”.
“All that stuff is going on behind me, guys”. McCown has been dealing with a rib injury and head coach Mike Pettine said that he will start in place of McCown. “He was going to do whatever it takes”. “I don’t know if it was because it’s his birthday, but he was definitely in the zone”.
“My eyes are on the field”.
Jones added a 34-yard pass on that final drive, so Pittsburgh finished with 480 net yards passing. Jacoby Jones’ 36-yard return became 15 yards longer following a penalty for a horse-collar tackle on Jeremy Lane.
How done are the Seahawks with Cary Williams starting at cornerback?
Venky Jois made two free throws to pull the Eagles (3-3) within 72-71 at the 1:38 mark, but McClelland answered with a layup and the Coyotes closed it by making 3 of 4 free throws while Eastern missed its last four shots. “It had been missing in our game, and that gave us the opportunity with field position and drive momentum that was really important”. With Richard Sherman closely shadowing Antonio Brown all over the field and Martavis Bryant having some key drops Ben Roethlisberger turned to Wheaton and Wheaton delivered.
Coach Carroll has preached a “next man up” mentality during his tenure with the Seahawks. He said other things I can’t repeat.
Wheaton said he enjoyed his first visit to Seattle for an National Football League game and a reunion with former OSU teammates Anthony and Brian Watkins, who live in town. Opponents have continually burned Williams and the Seahawks on those, prompting the change and now demotion to not even being in uniform. He had a streak of 81 consecutive games played, including the playoffs, before being a healthy inactive for Sunday’s game. After a terrific game last week, Wilson seems to have caught fire.
Smith went undrafted after a 50-catch senior season at UW.

He re-signed with the Seahawks in February and was waived again in September, He re-signed to Seattle’s practice squad and then moved to the active roster on November 17. It allowed quarterback Russell Wilson to throw for 345 yards and five touchdowns.
