McElwain, Gators no pushover for Alabama
Opponents have outscored the Gators 62-55 over their past four games, culminating with a 27-2 loss to Florida State on Saturday.

He completed 19 of 38 passes for 134 yards and was sacked four times.
“He (Harris) could’ve played a lot better, but so could’ve a lot of guys, ” McElwain said.
“It’s a huge challenge, we’re playing the best team in college football”, McElwain said on the teleconference of facing Alabama.
Florida must re-ignite its offense, which has produced 53 points and turned the ball over eight times the last three games, while finding a way to contain Florida State’s Dalvin Cook.
Robinson leads the Gators with 47 receptions for 505 yards and two touchdowns. The junior from Fort Valley, Georgia, has talent, but has been benched and/or demoted twice this season and suspended twice as a freshman and for the 2014 season opener against Idaho, a game that was canceled because of thunderstorms. For Florida to be in SEC title game his first year there shows how good of a coach he is.
“It’s a tough one but we have to put it behind us”, said Florida tight end Jake McGee. That goes to this cop, who saw an errant pass from Maguire come flying toward the stands and knew this was his moment to shine.
McElwain gets high marks for proving that a team doesn’t have to be a 10 in order to rack up 10 wins. “We just have to get back to the basics [Monday]”.
“I think they’re as good as anybody I’ve seen all year long”, Saban said. Next week, as the Boston Herald noted, the Southeastern Conference championship game features No. 2 Alabama vs. Florida in Atlanta. Kelvin Taylor was the only bright spot for the offense, getting 127 yards on 24 carries.
The unit faded down the stretch, though. “They’re one of the more patient and tactically gifted teams that we’ve come across in many years of NCAA tournament play, so today I simply tip my hat to and say that we wish them all the best as they go forward try to repeat as National Champions”.
“We just gave [Cook] that many opportunities”. In a September interview with KNXO 1460 AM in Des Moines, Iowa, he discussed how of Florida’s three big-time college football programs (Florida, Florida State and Miami), the Seminoles have the least amount of his respect.
Dalvin Cook ran for 183 yards and two touchdowns, including 150 yards in the fourth quarter, and Roberto Aguayo kicked two long field goals.
Instead, Florida’s fans, coaches and players watched FSU celebrate for the third straight time in Gainesville. They’re very athletic. They play hard. With just under nine minutes to play, it was a fumble recovered in the end zone by Seminoles quarterback Sean Maguire that resulted in a safety (and Florida’s only two points of the game) that prevented the dreaded goose egg.
Likewise, McElwain is more than impressed with an Alabama defense that ranks second in total defense, first in rushing defense and third in scoring defense.
Florida State (10-2, No. 13 CFP), which didn’t make the Atlantic Coast Conference title game, awaits its bowl assignment.
The ‘Noles were ranked #13 in this week’s College Football Playoff Rankings before defeating #12 Florida, and holding them to two points.

Florida reached the red zone twice Saturday, but failed to convert a fourth-and-2 play and had a 37-yard field goal blocked. There was no fire in his game, and when Florida’s receivers broke open, as they often did, there was no flash of recognition in his eyes.
