Matt Millen is sorry, Detroit Lions fans.

Millen was back where he belongs – in a Fox broadcast booth with old partner Dick Stockton – for Sunday’s Buccaneers vs. Colts game, but the subject of his years as the Lions’ team president came up.

Since Detroit Lions owner Martha Ford abruptly fired two high-ranking members in the front office following a bludgeoning in London, the team has won three straight games and it seems a fire has been lit under their rear ends.

And he apologized to Lions fans for his overwhelming lack of success. “We had this fleeting dream that I thought maybe I could run a team”.

The tone of Millen’s “apology” didn’t play well with Lions fans on social media.

Millen added: “It didn’t quite work out”.

He was the Lions GM from 2001 until the fourth week of the 2008 season. Millen’s eight-year record set the bar for worst eight-year record in the history of the modern National Football League (31-84 and a. 270 winning percentage). He was sacked early in the 2008 season, also known as the season the Lions went 0-16.
