Indian Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar will embark on a tour of the US later next week, aimed at bolstering bilateral military ties, sources said Sunday. He was referring to media reports that said the minister was planning to retire after he turns 60 on December 13.

And then there are multi-billion dollar defence deals that India will be looking forward to ink with United States during Parrikar’s visit that begins from 4 December. On the other hand, Parrikar said his statement has been misinterpreted and twisted.

Parrikar also stated that his attention would linger on Goa and that if the state government veers onto the wrong path, he would endeavour to bring it back on track.

“Finally, there is a question mark over the possibility of finding people with leadership qualities in a small state”.

Current chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar who took the position of Parrikar after his posting in union cabinet has already announced that he would lead the party in 2017 goa assembly polls.
