Cardinals RB Chris Johnson has fractured tibia

Johnson was diagnosed with a fractured tibia after leaving Sunday’s victory in the second half, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source informed of the injury, on NFL Network’s Monday edition of Around The NFL.

Considering that the rookie hadn’t recorded a single game with more than seven carries before Sunday’s contest, his fantasy value is inextricably tied to the health of Ellington and Chris Johnson moving forward. The 30-year-old former Tennessee Titan and New York Jet had struggled of late, averaging just 2.9 yards per carry over his last four games.

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians was asked about the severity of Johnson’s injury and replied, “Not sure”, per Craig Grialou of 98.7 FM in Arizona.

The Arizona Cardinals came home battered but victorious after an ugly afternoon at San Francisco.

The impressive comeback season for Cardinals running back Chris Johnson has hit a bump in the road.

Without Johnson or Ellington, the Cardinals’ offense could be in all sorts of trouble. Signed to a one year contract earlier this season, it’s possible Johnson could have played his final down with the Cardinals. That alone makes him a valuable target on a waiver wire that is particularly thin at this point in the season.
