Houston Texans Run Away With Win Over New Orleans Saints

The Texans took a 21-6 lead with 11:35 to go in the third quarter on an 8-yard touchdown run by running back Alfred Blue.

Despite a 2-5 start and reports of a front office rift between O’Brien and GM Rick Smith, Houston (6-5) has now won four straight games, its longest win streak since 2012.

The Texans are looking to get above.

And yes, the Saints will monitor closely which guys are showing that they want to be a part of this team going forward.

Defensive end J.J. Watt recorded his fifth multi-sack game on the season to lead the Texans (6-5), who kept the Saints (4-7) and their second-ranked offense out of the end zone.

Hoyer finished 21 of 27 for 205 yards while the Texans amassed 167 rushing yards at 4.4 yards per carry. The Texans went 11 plays, 70 yards, taking 6:06 to score against a helpless New Orleans defense with Brian Hoyer connected with Ryan Griffin on a 10-yard touchdown pass.

Houston padded the lead in the second quarter when Hoyer hit Cecil Shorts from 3yards out, making the score 14-0 after Novak kicked the extra point.

With 68 1/2 career sacks J.J. Watt certainly doesn’t remember the details of every single one. At first glance, that didn’t appear to be the case on Sunday.

Moments earlier, Palmer fell backward as he released the ball and completed a 34-yard pass to J.J. Nelson to put Arizona on the 1.

Presumably, the “next” Era of Saints football wasn’t supposed to start until after Drew Brees’ retirement. The first game was between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Detroit Lions, although in essence only one of the teams seemed to turn up as the Lions routed the Eagles 45-14. “That was pretty cool”. I just told these guys that all three phases are contributing.

This streak was the second best touchdown streak of all time.

So did Watt say anything to Brees after that sack.

“I didn’t know if I was going to block back or block in front”, Clowney said. His pace takes him closer to 20 sacks, for the third time in four seasons. Watt vs Brees will be the top match up when we watch the Saints Texans game live streaming or on TV.

Defensive coordinator Rob Ryan finally got the boot after he engineered the league’s worst defense with 31.5 points and 424.3 yards allowed per game.

I haven’t seen Saints mauled that badly in an arena since Ignatius of Antioch. Since losing to the Miami Dolphins 44-26, Houston has given up 29 points during a three-game winning streak to boost its record to 5-5.

The Texans defense looked very sharp on Sunday and is shaping up to be one of the best in the league. A few T.J. Yates kneel downs later, the game was over.

The Texans are No. 8 defensively and actually No. 13 offensively, thanks mostly to a surprising No. 6 passing offense with Brian Hoyer as the primary quarterback. Sort of like New Orleans did at Carolina the first time, only with Brees pulling the trigger. He was a defensive assistant from Payton’s first season in 2006 until 2010. He threw an interception, but not a touchdown, according to Sports Illustrated.

Sean Payton said the Houston Texans aren’t the same team that was struggling earlier in the season. “He gives his players a lot of information to help them in certain situations”.
