Vancouver controlled the puck for much of the first period but failed to score. “We played well the first two periods and then we sat back”. Niemi beat the Canucks last month to improve to 12-9-2 with a 2.59 goals-against average versus them.2. In his first career game at the Bell Centre, Cory Schneider stopped 30 shots.
Tyler Seguin scored the game-winner in 3-on-3 extra time, while Alex Goligoski, Jamie Benn and John Klingberg also found the net.
Vancouver’s Henrik Sedin tied the game on the power play with 4:10 left. Careless blind drop passes at inopportune moments have led to the Stars giving up goals on more than one occasion, and this is a problem that simply must be taken care of.
“Five-on-five, I thought we deserved another point”, Henrik Sedin said.
“I felt a little behind in the conditioning, but I was kind of expecting that”, Parise told the team’s official website.
Benn was upset with himself for drawing the tripping penalty that resulted in the game-tying power play.
Vancouver took a too many men on the ice penalty about midway through overtime. But despite two periods of inadequate play plus being shorthanded, Jamie Benn was once again the flawless leader and energizer for this team. “They’re going to eventually capitalize”.
The Western Conference-leading Dallas Stars will wrap up a three-game homestand against a team they have dominated when the Vancouver Canucks pay a visit on Friday night.
Goaltender Antti Niemi finished with 23 saves for the Stars (19-5-0), who had lost their previous five games in Minnesota.
The Stars beat the Canucks 3-2 in overtime earlier in the season, and found a way to win in a shootout in this one.
Seguin sent the puck between Vancouver goalie Ryan Miller’s legs for the only score on six shots in the shootout. Canucks coach Willie Desjardins is a former Stars assistant. “We’ve had a couple days to evaluate our play in the last game and learn from it. It brings you back down to earth”. Seguin, Benn and Klingberg also each had one assist, and Cody Eakin had two assists.
Seguin scored on a rush to the Minnesota net with 1:03 to play in overtime on a play set up by Benn.
John Klingberg completed the comeback with just 5:26 left in the game, making a stunning move to walk the blueline to hold the zone before wiring a flawless wrist shot into the top corner. 3-3. “It’s my responsibility, the short side”.

The NHL Department of Player Safety, however, apparently is not even looking at supplemental discipline for Beleskey, who was not even penalized in the game. Minny has been a team on the rise over the last few seasons but are now at a point where they need to make a deep playoff run to display progress but with a strong division and only so many spots in the postseason they are going to have their work cut out for them. Vancouver kicked off a four-game road trip by edging Minnesota 3-2 to win for only the third time in 11 games (3-6-2).
