Tonight, as the Tampa Bay Lightning somehow found a way to blow a two-goal lead over the New York Islanders and turn this back-to-back weekend into a nightmare, Lightning captain Steven Stamkos spoke out about the team’s performance.
The goal came during a goalmouth scramble with 3:36 remaining.
“How many more wins could we have had this year if our power play could score a goal?”, captain Steven Stamkos asked rhetorically.
“I had faith in our power play”, coach Jack Capuano said. “Obviously, last night it wasn’t very good, but we only had the one opportunity”. Unfortunately, a quick 48-hour span, we’ve lost four points, but the guys are playing hard and we’ve just got to keep playing this way.
“A lot of things haven’t been bouncing our way, but we’ve been really working for everything we’ve been getting”, Tavares said.
Brian Boyle and Victor Hedman scored for the Lightning. Stralman would score a goal of his own under two minutes into the second period, beating Griess stick side thanks to a backhanded pass by Stamkos to put Tampa Bay up 2-0.
The Lightning had a 2-0 lead evaporate in a 3-2 loss.
There is plenty of work that will need to be done for the Tampa Bay Lightning to get back to their winning ways and find some sort of consistency. He’s played in 10 National Hockey League games, all with Tampa Bay, recording one goal.
“It’s frustrating, that’s for sure”, Cooper said. Chimera had the puck low and Ovechkin drifted right into the slot alone, where Chimera put it on his tape.

That almost cost a first-round series victory against Detroit when the power play went 2-for-30, with both of those goals coming in Game 2. Stamkos was awarded a penalty shot on the play. He had time to settle, then whip it past Vasilevskiy (33 saves) for the 4-0 lead. We’re a. 500 hockey club and we realize that. As Braydon Coburn attempted to clear the puck out in front of the Lightning’s net, Islanders forward Cal Clutterbuck gained control and tapped it past Ben Bishop who was caught off guard. Hometown goalie Braden Holtby stopped _ and improves to 14-4-0 on the season and 6-2-1 in his career against the Lightning.
