Neil Taylor: Our performance against Liverpool proves Swansea have turned a corner

Swansea City manager Garry Monk is confident that there’s “never any danger of that team being in a relegation fight” despite another League defeat.

“But the results are my responsibility”.

“I won’t look at the table, I will focus on these players”.

“But if you perform like that, if you have those principles and that work ethic, that will happen”.

“I understand that and you can’t continue to not get points”. I don’t feel [momentum] because we play again on Wednesday, that’s my problem. “But if we perform how we did on Sunday we can definitely get something from next weekend”.

“With the amount of games we have got coming up and getting into Christmas it is an important time to get some form”.

James Milner’s 62nd-minute penalty, which came after Jordon Ibe’s cross had struck the raised arm of Neil Taylor, proved the difference at Anfield in what was a very tight affair.

Taylor was turning away from the ball with his arm out as he blocked the cross and referee Anthony Taylor only awarded a penalty on the advice of his linesman. We’d like to see Henderson and Sturridge both given a berth in the starting eleven to help get themselves match fit, but we’ll have to wait and see if Jurgen thinks their inclusion is worth the risk.

“To lose the game on a decision which was out of our hands is extremely disappointing”. I have no complaints over the performance. “I think he’s ready for Southampton”.

Lambert’s effort was turned into his own net by Winston Reid after the Hammers – who had Carl Jenkinson starting at right-back and brought Andy Carroll off the bench – earlier took the lead through Mauro Zarate.

“That doesn’t look like a team in trouble”.

“We played against an opponent that were very, very organised – I think it was their best game in terms of defensive organisation in their last two or three [matches]”.

Most of the leading performers responsible for Swansea’s impressive start to the season including Jefferson Montero and Bafetimbi Gomis are clearly struggling to regain their hot form.

Swansea’s board were reported to be considering Monk’s position following the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth on 21 November.
