Monday morning a mix of some snow, freezing rain, and rain will fall in Central Iowa.
The mixture of rain, snow and sleet today should convert to snow tonight, although with tonight’s low of only 31 degrees, the chance of rain mixing in remains.
The storm will be worse to the west and south, with up to a foot of snow expected in the Mankato, Marshall and Willmar areas.
In Aberdeen, a women’s basketball game at Northern State University was canceled Monday night, and the men’s game was rescheduled for an hour earlier, the AP also reported. This time around, the heaviest snow is forecast to stay northwest of the KWWL viewing area.
The storm is expected to produce hard travel conditions and a reduction in visibility. The first round of snow and mixed precipitation will be arriving by daybreak Monday, and could lead to a slick commute from Eau Claire south to La Crosse.
Lighter snowfall possible: Northern Minnesota, Colorado, northern New Mexico, western/northern Kansas, western/central/southern Nebraska, western South Dakota, south-central North Dakota, central/southwest Iowa, northeast Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of MI. Heavier snow is expected between 3 and 6 p.m. and then again around midnight. Winter storm warnings are out southwest of the Twin Cities.
As of this morning, the Weather Service was forecasting snowfall of 4 to 6 inches for the Twin Ports, Iron Range and Northwestern Wisconsin.

Meanwhile, up to four inches of rain was forecast for Northeastern Texas and central Arkansas Sunday, adding to the threat of flooding in those states.
