North Korea Submarine Missile Launch Test Fails

“There are many nations that seek to benchmark us and our systems, particularly because my country is squaring off with North Korea”, South Korea’s technology minister Choi Yang Hee said in his office south of Seoul. Moreover, experts said the photographs of the launch were doctored, while South Korea said the missile flew about 150 metres away from the submarine.

North Korea has yet to make any official announcement of the flight which is hardly surprising if it indeed was a failure. The government is doubling the size of its cyber command to 1,000 people and raised spending on information security by nearly 50 per cent to 250bn South Korean won (£144m) between 2009 and 2015. The origin of a missile launched from under water is much harder to detect than those launched on land. It’s with this understanding that North Korea has looked for more mobile solutions to its strategic military goals including road-mobile launchers in addition to submarines. As a result of the order – which appears to be a year old, based on YouTube reports – beauty salons and barber shops in the country are enjoying a boom as North Koreans attempt to follow the dictator’s decree, reports News.com.au.

It is possible, however, that the drill never intended for the rocket to penetrate the ocean’s surface and that North Korea was instead merely focusing on how the capsule functioned. Under the planned package, grandparents who are primary careers will be exempt from the child-care activity test, which means they will not have to work or study to access government- funded support, ABC said. “The missile was not seen flying in the air only debris from its coverings was spotted”, he said.

If the North becomes capable of launching warhead-carrying missiles from submarines, global tensions could escalate due to the stealthy nature of the vessels.
