Oklahoma Bashes Oklahoma State 58-23 In Bedlam

Mixon turned back to his right and followed Mayfield, who buried Oklahoma State cornerback Ashton Lampkin in the ground, springing Mixon free for a 66-yard touchdown that ignited the Oklahoma rout. “I’m just humbled and speechless by what we’ve done, but we’re not done yet”. When you go up by nearly 30 in the second quarter, the run game pretty much comes off the menu.

In efforts to avoid a repeat, Oklahoma has three huge factors working in its favor that TCU lacked last season.

Passing Defense: The Pokes weren’t bad, but a bevy of Sooners drops also bailed them out.

The Big 12 will not be able to fill its space in the Heart of Dallas Bowl because it won’t have any more teams that will be bowl eligible. Since that increasingly head-scratching October 10 loss to Texas, the Sooners have beaten opponents by an average margin of 32.6 points.

But the Sooners never lost faith, and as teams like LSU and Ohio State slipped up, Oklahoma slowly and impressively picked off one Big 12 title contender after another.

OU wasn’t taking any chances in Bedlam, jumping out to a 34-10 lead in the second quarter and rolling from there. The Buckeyes can only watch and hope next week as their loss to Michigan State kept them out of the Big Ten title game. The Sooners hung 44 points on the Cowboys, and Baker Mayfield and Samaje Perine make a powerful 1-2 offensive punch for the No. 3 ranked Oklahoma squad. “I knew our guys were ready and I knew what we were playing for”.

Oklahoma finished its season with a 11-1 record after easily beating in-state rival Oklahoma State 58-23.

The Hawkeyes defeated the Nebraska Cornhuskers to finish off the first undefeated season in program history, and will play this Saturday against Michigan State in the Big Ten title game in Indianapolis. Quarterback Trevone Boykin left the game in the second half with an ankle injury and wasn’t available when TCU played at Oklahoma.

Rudolph did come into the game late in the first half with Oklahoma up 28-10 but was ineffective.

The running game was almost impeccable, Perine ran for 131 yards and two touchdowns on just 17 carries and backup Joe Mixon added 136 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries. Now, no one is forgetting his name after stampeding for 121 yards in the first half, scoring by way of blazing speed and bruising power.

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield has put together a stellar season, throwing for 35 touchdowns against five interceptions.

Mayfield was knocked out of the previous game with a concussion, but he was fearless against the Cowboys, rushing for 77 yards and a touchdown. – Dalvin Cook ran for 183 yards and two touchdowns, Roberto Aguayo kicked two long field goals and Florida State (10-2) won at the Swamp for the third straight time.

Walsh, who was primarily used in just red zone and short yardage situations during the season, played the entire contest except for one series in the second quarter.
