At Russia’s request, the pilot had been given Orthodox funeral rites, Turkey’s semi-official Anadolu news agency reported.

Russia introduced a raft of punitive economic sanctions against Turkey on Saturday after Turkey shot down a Russian warplane earlier in the week.
Another pilot in the plane survived and was rescued from rebel-held territory in Syria in a special forces operation.
Davutoglu said with different coalitions operating in Syria with differing objectives, similar incidents to that of the downing of the Russian jet could happen unless there was information sharing and coordination.
Davutoglu added Turkey received the body on Saturday.
Turkey’s military said the Su-24 bomber was shot down by two of its F-16s after it violated Turkish airspace 10 times within a five-minute period on Tuesday.
Taking into account the political tensions surrounding the plane’s downing, Buzgan said his family is “deeply saddened by this military incident” and therefore would like to “provide all the possible assistance to the family of the killed pilot”.
By contrast, Russian President Vladimir Putin has accused Turkey of trying to bring its relations with Russia to a “dead end”, calling the shootdown “a stab in the back” and tying Turkey to terrorists.
Erdogan also renewed a call to Putin for a face-to-face meeting in Paris on the sidelines of the Global Climate Summit Monday. “What we tell Russian Federation is “Let’s talk about this issue within its boundaries and let’s settle it. Let’s not make others happy by hurting our relationship”, he said”.
The Government was also given instructions to submit proposals, if necessary, regarding changes to the duration or nature of the special economic and other measures envisaged by the Executive Order.
The decree also called for ending chartered flights from Russia to Turkey and for Russian tourism companies to stop selling vacation packages that would include a stay in Turkey.
