So there is lots of time for shopping yet.
Cyber Monday was set to break the record for USA ecommerce sales but it was dwarfed by the big November 11 “Singles Holiday” in China which generated some $14 billion in sales, according to online giant Alibaba.
By Monday evening, Adobe projected that sales would come in just shy of the $3 billion mark.
You can find the last minute Cyber Monday deals on walmart.com.
Adobe measures 80% of all online transactions from the top 100 US retailers through Adobe Marketing Cloud. According to its data, the bestselling electronic products were Samsung (SSNLF) 4K TVs, Apple iPad Air 2, Microsoft (MSFT) Xbox One, Apple iPad Mini and Sony (SNE) PS4.
Most of her shopping is done online via her iPhone and laptop, she said. Retail giant Target’s website went down briefly, as did the payments service PayPal, and some high-demand items were selling out.
“It’s no longer about one day but a season of digital deals”, the head of the National Retail Federation, Matthrew Shay said. In terms of safety online, it’s actually statistically safer to shop at home with a credit card than to use it at the mall, but there are still things to look for to make sure your purchases are secure.
Sunday has traditionally been a day of rest…and watching NFL football, but this last weekend, there were plenty of shoppers taking advantage of weekend Black Friday sales or pre-Cyber Monday sales. “Those are US numbers, those are estimates, but analysts think that this is the first year, ten years later, that Cyber Monday will be a bigger deal than Black Friday”. A year ago, the nation’s largest retailer only offered a sneak peak of about 20 deals on the evening before Cyber Monday.

The name “Cyber Monday” was coined in 2005 by the National Retail Federation’s online arm, called Shop.org, to encourage people to shop online. The name was also a nod to online shopping being done at work where faster connections made it easier to browse.
