Adele new album 25 just keeps breaking records
By weeks end, 25 had sold another million copies to become the biggest album of the year, for total sales of an astonishing 3.38 million copies in just seven days. Earlier during this week, the album broke the previous record of 2.42 million copies sold made by *NSYNC’s No Strings Attached, which debuted in March 2000.

Adele has made history yet again with her brand new album 25 released through XL/Columbia Records.
Adele beat all comers on the U.S. Billboard 200 album charts on Monday with a record-breaking debut for “25”, leaving other top acts like Justin Bieber and British boy band One Direction looking like also-rans. To get an idea of just what an anomaly 25 is in today’s music market, Musixmatch is reporting that more people searched for Adele’s lyrics on Google than for torrents of the record. The album is the first, in fact, to surpass the 3 million sales mark in its first week, and only the second to even surpass 2 million.
Clearly, Adele is simply in another stratosphere when it comes to selling albums.
Adele’s work was released on November 20 and so is of course expected to do well during the holiday shopping season as well as during 2016. As has been reported, that’s the highest number in both metrics since Nielsen began tracking point-of-sale music purchases in 1991. It is the only album to be the top-seller for two consecutive years.
As widely predicted, Adele’s new album 25 has debuted at number 1 on the national ARIA album charts.
Although some songs like “Send My Love” or “Water Under the Bridge” have a more bouncy and jazzy rhythm, most of this record’s songs are of a slower, more meditative pace, and the recurrent themes across her three albums sometimes seem quite repetitive.

“It came down to the wire, but in the final week of 2014, Swift’s 1989 finishes as the year’s top selling album“. One thing the albums have in common is that the artists chose not to stream them on Spotify, favouring potential sales over free streams and likely contributing to their monster numbers.
