Golden State has won its NBA-record 19th consecutive win to start the season getting past Utah 106-103 in Salt Lake City on Monday. They made good defensive plays, then got relatively good looks on the offensive end against the Warriors’ defense, which led the league a year ago. With 13 points and 15 rebounds, Trevor Booker recorded his first double-double this season.
Curry wore a Cam Newton jersey on Thanksgiving Day – one of at least five Panthers jerseys he owns. “Obviously, I like to play”, Curry said.
“I felt like our guys executed everything that we tried to do”, Jazz coach Quin Snyder said. All he knew was that they shot a lot of 3s.
“Just because we’re 19-0 now doesn’t mean we get to show up and blow teams out or guarantee a win”.
If it’s fool’s gold though, what glitters still has to make other teams shiver with woe. We are okay playing like that for a little bit.
He added: “Nobody really talked about the 15-0 record until probably last week when we were around 12 wins, 11, 12 wins, because you can’t really get too far ahead of yourself”. Gordon Hayward had another outstanding night leading the team with 33 points, including five 3-pointers. Rodney Hood scored 14 seconds later to bring the Jazz within one. Curry returned just in time to hit a tying 3-pointer and ended up scoring 10 of his 26 points in the last 6:20 of the game.
What made this win even more outrageous, writes ESPN’s Ethan Sherwood Strauss, is that the Warriors didn’t even play particularly well, and yet they still won easily … The only blemish the Warriors had was missing nine free throws.
Curry led all scorers with 26 points.
118.3 – Points scored per-100-possessions by Golden State. But Green, as expected, torched the Suns from the post as Phoenix ran Warren with Sonny Weems, Archie Goodwin, Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight. The final margin was the closest for the Warriors this season.
The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Utah’s last 5 games at home. How cute to see Curry and Klay Thompson drill successive threes over Ingles in the third quarter. Green had already done yeoman’s work in boxing out athletic marvel Derrick Favors.
“Brook did not think in his wildest years I was going to shoot that one” James said. It’s a good shot, I don’t mind him taking that during the course of the game (he had one from about the same spot earlier on and missed). Barbosa scored a season-high 21 points. Curry is now top-12 in assists (he has more assists than John Wall) and top three in steals (Curry has more steals than Russell Westbrook).
The game was decided by a first half where the Pistons built a 23-point lead over a team that went to the Western Conference finals six months ago. However, his 66.7 shooting percentage is the highest of his career (53.2 career average). His 11-for-18 shooting night was a big turnaround from his 4-for-20 showing Sunday. He finished with seven points and no assists in 17 minutes. The Suns shot 48.9 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from beyond the arc.

Guard Shaun Livingston helped the Warriors regain the edge at 95-92 with five straight points, but the home team didn’t go away. The Warriors haven’t lost a game yet, but the Jazz have a shot to change that. The “Black Falcon” was diagnosed with a sprained left ankle. X-rays were negative, Walton said, but it wasn’t known how long Barnes might be out. This turned into a mini goal a couple of games ago.
