Coldplay and Beyonce let their musical powers combine and yeah, it’s pretty great.

Mrs. Carter opens the weekend anthem as she sings the sultry intro: “Drink from me, drink from me/ Oh-ah-oh-ah/ Then we’ll shoot across the sky/ Symphony”. “Drink for me, drink for me.” both Chris Martin and Beyoncé bellow over what sounds very much like the clinking of champagne glasses.

“Hymn for the Weekend” is Coldplay’s collaboration with Beyoncé, which Annie Mac debuted last night on the BBC, also featuring an interview with Coldplay’s bassist Guy Berryman who explained how the whole song came to be. “You can’t get away with that'”. It was incredible, she came in, she did her thing, she was unbelievably professional. “I think she was in and out within five minutes”, Berryman continued. Sadly, it shows. Even blessed with the soaring voice of Queen Bey, Chris Martin’s trademark bleats still dominate the mix, the Coldplay vocalist relegating his guest star to back-up duties.

It is the third studio recording from their seventh album “A Head Full Of Dreams” to be dropped in full, following lead single “Adventure Of A Lifetime” and “Everglow”, which features Gwyneth Paltrow.
