Premier Notley talks climate change
Shortly after American President Barack Obama announced the rejection of the Keystone XL pipeline on November 6 – a pipeline that would have carried crude oil from Alberta’s oil sands to the US Gulf Coast – Prime Minister Trudeau expressed his “disappointment” in the president’s decision.

Leaders of 53 Commonwealth countries are grappling with their own negotiations on addressing climate change in what Canada’s foreign minister calls a “training camp” for next week’s United Nations conference in France.
Trudeau also takes with him in his back pocket Alberta’s sweeping new climate change strategy, introduced by Notley a week ago.
“Future action on climate change by industry and governments rests on a strong foundation, and together we will build on it aggressively”, McMillan said. “It’s nice to have a friendly face and that happened immediately after we first met. I knew that I could always turn to you in a crowded room and get “l’heure juste” – have a little insight on what was going to happen next”.
On behalf of the Government of Canada, the Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, commended the Province of Quebec on its innovative and vigorous action on climate change. Canada will demonstrate real leadership in addressing this challenge.
The situation is expected to be different this time around. The federal government added that details on what specific initiatives the funds will support will be released in the coming months.
She declined to discuss specifics of what will be discussed except to say she will make clear Alberta’s renewed commitment and its actions to reduce greenhouse gases. Under premier Rachel Notley, Edmonton will phase out all coal power production by 2030, place a cap on oil sands production, and shift to renewable energy sources.
Earlier, Cameron said five million pound will be spent to help Commonwealth countries combat the spread of “poisonous ideologies”.
“I think that free trade and free markets are the best way to drive jobs, opportunities and investment in an increasingly dynamic global economy”. “Canada was black-labelled”.
He also said that adaptation funding was vital for ensuring that communities vulnerable to climate change’s effects have the skills, education and tools to handle the dangers posed by a warmer planet.
