76ers rookie Jahlil Okafor pulled over for reckless driving three

Jahlil Okafor is taking measures to stay out of trouble. The team is honoring the request, and according to a source “close to Okafor” a lot of teams have this arrangement with players anyways.

For much of his rookie season, Okafor was making headlines for all the right reasons. Both incidents occurred after Okafor, who won’t turn 21 until December 2016, had been in clubs where alcohol is served. But Boston police announced they will not investigate further despite a report that Okafor punched a heckler in a nightclub.

Laker Facts, a fan-made blog at Sports Blog, said that while Russell is not going to be the next Kobe Bryant, the 19-year-old Louisville, Kentucky native “clearly is going to have something to offer in the future” of the illustrious franchise. The other problem with trying to make sense of a situation like Okafor’s is that everyone’s an armchair psychologist all of the sudden.

ESPN.com’s Chris Broussard reported on Monday night that the Sixers have assigned a personal security guard to accompany the 19-year-old rookie whenever he goes out.

That news came days after it was revealed that Okafor had been involved in two altercations while leaving nightclubs.

76ers general manager Sam Hinkie has embarked on a questionable rebuilding plan that features four rookies, three second-year players, four third-year players and a 2014 draft pick, injured Joel Embiid, who has yet to play an National Basketball Association game.

“As an organization, anything like this is concerning”, 76ers head coach Brett Brown reportedly said.

Okafor has been averaging 17.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game. He doesn’t need to worry about what’s going to happen every time he goes out. The man said Okafor knocked him to the ground and caused a cut above his eye that required stitches. But the season is young, and as his off the court issues stack up they threaten to topple over onto him, showcasing one of the many downsides with trusting The Process™. Not the fake ID thing, that’s mostly just amusing, but the rest of it. Getting popped speeding 108 in a 45 isn’t just driving fast, it’s legitimately unsafe and reckless.
