Louis van Gaal on the draw and why he substituted Wayne Rooney
Manchester United’s more conservative style of play under Louis van Gaal has contributed to Wayne Rooney’s worst ever slump in form, according to Matt le Tissier.

He posted a picture on Twitter of the article with United Review, in which he insisted he didn’t want “this dream to finish” and tweeted: “Interview given last week”.
Former United players have been vehemently critical of Van Gaal’s style this season: Paul Scholes admitted he would not want to play in the team, and Rio Ferdinand last week suggested his midfield offered “zero threat”.
United look much better with him in the side, which is why the situation is so frustrating. Plus ça change. First, against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League, with the Reds’ scoreless draw leaving United’s ongoing participation in the competition hanging in the balance.
“Saturday (against Leicester) I again looked at Manchester and I see that team play and (they make) tears shoot from my eyes”. I expect United to kick on in the second part of the season and get stronger.
In contract, Herrera is one of those few players, who injects pace and creativity into the side, but surprisingly he is often being ignored by the Dutchman. “I have to fight for my position and gain my position and I will do it”.
The £29m signing from Athletic Bilbao has had to endure long spells on the sidelines under Van Gaal.
The midfielder is now out of action with a hamstring problem and has only started six Premier League games in 2015-16.
United fans have repeatedly shown their support for Herrera – chanting his name when he’s left out of the starting line up.
However, Fortune, who enjoyed a seven-year stay at Old Trafford between 1999 and 2006, says the critcism of the manager is harsh and believes van Gaal’s plan needs time to “click”.

“In the third or fourth phase we have to create more, but it is hard because you have seen where Leicester City stand on the pitch – it was in the 60 metre area”.
