It seems millennial parents aren’t just documenting their children’s every move on Instagram – they’re actually naming their babies after their favorite aspects of the photo-sharing app, too.
When it comes to naming a child, parents are looking to the sky, celebrities, and embracing gender-neutral baby name for 2015.
In the realm of celeb-inspired names, Wyatt is up 84 percent for girls and 11 percent for boys, which is the adorable name choice for Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher’s baby girl, born in 2014.
That said, there’s plenty of emotional fallout for a poorly named baby.
For boys, the names Lux and Ludwig – two filters that have increased in popularity by 75 percent and 42 percent, respectively, since a year ago – were the most popular.
According to USA Today, popular TV shows are playing a part in baby names. Palace-ready monikers are one of several baby name trends reported by BabyCenter, a pregnancy and parenting online resource. Dre was up 77%, Lyon grew 6% and Hakeem was up 55%. The name Lucious also appeared in BabyCenter’s database for the first time in three years. Madison made the top ten by beating out Madelyn, which is now 13th on the list. However, Murray predicts Jackson’s appeal won’t last for long.

BabyCenter has released the results of its annual Baby Names Survey, and while some of their findings are not too shocking – Sophia is the top pick for girls for the sixth year in a row, and Jackson is the top name for boys for the third year running – a few of the trends they discovered are a bit more surprising.
