Byron Scott Is Nonetheless Being Silly About D’Angelo Russell

“I would never, never, never do that”, Scott said after practice at the Lakers’ facility to ESPN. Last year, Kobe Bryant did not shoot that well either, with a 37.3 field goal percentage and 29.3 from beyond the arc in 35 games.

With the loss, the hapless Lakers move to 2-12.

“We’re trying to get better”.

“Yeah, they could do it”, Lakers guard Kobe Bryant said of the Warriors being the team to win 33 straight. “I think that’s probably what we learned with Phil. Phil used to like to keep a little turmoil going around, because it could give guys an edge, and you constantly need an edge, you play better with an edge in this league”. “We are genuinely addicted to the feeling of winning”, said Curry. Again, our conversations are pretty blunt. I could’ve scored 80 [Tuesday]. “In all honesty, it’s tough when the shots that I take, the pull-up shots, jumpers and contested jumpers, were tough shots to hit at 27”.

Should this be Bryant’s past year? “We do a great job of just staying in the moment”.

In Tuesday’s loss to the Golden State Warriors, Bryant shot 1-of-14, tying the worst shooting performance of his career in which he attempted at least five shots. “We’ve got Magic [Johnson] and James [Worthy], and Kareem [Abdul-Jabbar] as a post-up player to demand a double-team”.

“I’m not really anxious about it, honestly”, Bryant said. In addition, he has not considered reducing Kobe’s minutes or role despite his aging superstar struggling in his 20th season.

However, not everyone is optimistic that Bryant could still turn back the hands of time and play at a high level for the Lakers.

Also, the second overall pick of this year’s draft, D’Angelo Russell, has yet to find his place in the rotation as he is overshadowed by Jordan Clarkson and Lou Williams in the backcourt.

While Kobe Bryant retirement is something many critics point to as the solution to the Lakers problem, coach Byron Scott insists he hasn’t lost faith to his player. “They just don’t trust each other on the floor”, Scott said, and then attempted to explain how a team could simultaneously not trust each other while still not having chemistry issues. With more than four months left in the season, the end could get even uglier.
