As BuzzFeed points out, a Florida man posted a video just last week in which his “hoverboard” is seen burning before its battery explodes.

But the Lafitte Fire Chief said he’s heard of hoverboard fires in other countries.
“It was hard to put it out, because it was pretty big, it caught flames fast”, Hayden Horne said. He reportedly used it without trouble and had to recharge the device’s lithium battery in his room the next day. Meanwhile, Hayden’s mom is planning to sue. She said on Facebook her family’s dog “looked lifeless” when she was pulled from the flames by firefighters, but she was revived when they gave her oxygen.
Several companies sell hoverboards, and this one came from a company called “FitTurbo”, ordered on Amazon.com for about 0. Hayden says he had just plugged his in moments before the fire. According to WGNO, the Consumer Product Safety Commission says it hasn’t received any reports of injuries due to fires originating from “hoverboards”.

The local authorities are now investigating the cause of the fire, but this is not the first allegation of smoking hover boards.
