Adobe Flash Now so Hated That They’re Renaming Its Authoring Tool
However, lately, more and more of the developers have been opting for HTML5 over Flash. Inan announcement last night, Adobe said that it will now “encourage content creators to build with new web standards”, such as HTML5, rather than Flash.

Adobe is finally starting to acknowledge that Flash’s days are numbered.
Some people may argue that Adobe is not going far enough to eliminate Flash from the Internet.
According to an Adobe statement, Flash Professional is being renamed Adobe Animate CC “to more accurately represent its position as the premier animation tool for the web and beyond”. Flash is not dead … yet. As part of this cooperation, Facebook will report security information that helps Adobe improve the Flash Player. “With respect to the other tools, it is good to see that some of the important features have found homes in Dreamweaver and other Adobe apps”. If you needed yet another signal that Flash’s reputation has gone down the (series of) tubes, Adobe is renaming the authoring tool to disassociate it from the actual content format. The technology, which once was ubiquitous on desktops and browsers, will now be called Adobe Animate CC (for Creative Cloud) to reflect the changing times. At the same time, Adobe has also committed to supporting Flash and AIR for the foreseeable future and that means the onus is still on Adobe to provide a secure product.

While that was once true, everyone is ready to move forward with a more open standard, and that standard just so happens to be HTML5. In addition to SWF files, Animate CC can produce HTML5 and SVG content. Adobe says in its blog post that over a third of Flash content already incorporates HTML5, and that the Interactive Advertising Beaureau has approved Flash CC as an HTML5 ad-creation platform.
