The comedian is featured in the Pirelli 2016 calendar, shot by Annie Leibovitz.

Amy Schumer “has never felt more beautiful” than she did when she stripped nearly completely naked for the 2016 Pirelli Calendar.
Leibovitz says Pirelli asked her for a “departure” from years past, and that’s what the company got. “They suggested the idea of photographing distinguished women”.
As the calendar was released, Schumer created a stir on social media, posting an image from her photo shoot and the caption “Beautiful, gross, strong, thin, fat, pretty, ugly, sexy, disgusting, flawless, woman. I think the company has wanted to shift for a few years and my mandate was that they wanted to see some change”, said Leibovitz.
Artist Yoko Ono, singer Patti Smith, writer Fran Lebowitz, actress Yao Chen, model Natalia Vodianova, producer Kathleen Kennedy, art collector Agnes Gund, businesswoman Mellody Hobson, director Ava DuVernay, blogger Tavi Gevinson and artist Shirin Neshat also posed for the new edition.
“I still can’t believe the women who agreed to do it did it”, Leibovitz said. But after glimpsing at the other months’ selections showcasing highly accomplished, highly clothed women, the unlikely pair fit right in.
“I’m a great admirer of comediennes”, she added.
Of the 12 portraits in the 2016 iteration, only Williams and Schumer are in revealing poses, and both of them are turned at least partially away from the camera.

“It might only be pinned up at some enlightened garages, but the Pirelli calendar has signalled a break with history”, Adam Sherwin wrote in The Independent on Tuesday, December 1 under the headline: “Pirelli calendar’s sexism replaced by ‘amazing women'”.
