Tom Herman Agrees To New Contract With University Of Houston
Herman’s new contract will pay him in excess of $3 million per year, according to the report.

Houston coach Tom Herman has agreed in principle to remaining the cougars head coach.
At his weekly news conference Monday, Herman said details of the contract are not complete but that he and the university “are moving in the right direction on the generalities” of a deal. An annual salary of $3 million would make Herman the highest-paid coach outside of the five major conferences. If the USC’s and Georgia’s of the world weren’t calling – USC has already taken the interim tag off of Clay Helton – then staying at Houston might be the best course of action for Herman.
Herman, formerly an offensive coordinator at Ohio State, was rumored to be a head coaching target for some of the major programs with openings.
Bolting for the wrong job too early can set a coach back, and Herman’s pedigree and success at Houston will keep him near the top of AD’s wishlists.

Herman has led the Cougars to an 11-1 record as they host the Temple Owls in the first inaugural American Athletic Conference championship. Houston racked up 555 yards of total offense and 27 first downs in shredding a stout defense, one that had yielded more than 25 points only once this season (Notre Dame, 41).
