Apple releases iOS 9 public beta

If you’re still thinking of throwing caution to the wind and going ahead, we recommend making a backup and using the latest iTunes version to do install iOS 9 beta. And even after you’ve attempted to fix the issue, there are times when you simply have to live with an app not working or a feature you used to rely on crashing your device. Apple will collect feedback from the now released public beta and will improve the product to launch a final version.

First, this beta marks the semi-public debut of Apple’s News app-if you’re beta-testing the operating system in the USA, that is.

Other minor (or major, depending on who you ask) updates include proper casing in the virtual keyboard to denote lowercase or capital letters, a toolbar for Bluetooth keyboards that adds word prediction and quick cut / copy / paste tools, and a cascading cards system for recent apps.

Another feature – Apple’s news service “Apple News” will also be available with the new version of the iOS. Last month, Apple offered the beta version of its operating system to registered developers. By contrast, anyone with an Apple device and Apple ID can sign up for the iOS 9 program and download the beta software.

Apple updates its iOS software platform for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch once a year, as regular as clockwork. iOS 9 – which we understand is codenamed “Monarch”, after an American ski resort – will launch in 2015, and was unveiled at WWDC 2015 on 8 June.

So far, the iOS 9 has seen a new News app that’ll be replacing the old Newsstand. However, Apple warns it “may contain errors or inaccuracies and may not function as well as commercially released software”. It will take the place of spotlight search in iOS 9 and will give users the most relevant information based on the context they put in. It also helps if you have a fast internet connection and some time to kill.

iOS 9 will also bring with it updates to the Siri virtual assistant and Maps application. The Siri search will now have minimum error chance. There are even entire guides for how to prepare for this kind of iOS 9 update. Let’s have a look at what the new features are. A long awaited feature for iPads indeed.

Multi-tasking capabilities are added with the ability to watch picture within picture dual screens, such as a photo in one, and the other a video.
