Quarterback Chad Kelly threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score Saturday to lead No. 18 Ole Miss past No. 21 Mississippi State 38-27 in the Egg Bowl in Starkville, Miss. The Ole Miss rushing game continued the revival that has taken place since the return of Laremy Tunsil as the Rebels rushed for 243 yards led by Jaylen Walton’s 93 yards.

The Rebels jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter thanks to two touchdowns from junior Chad Kelly, one rushing and one throwing, and an interception returned for a touchdown by junior Tony Bridges.
The home team had lost only twice in the egg bowl series since 2000, and the Rebels hadn’t won in Starkville since 2003 when Eli Manning led the Rebels to a 31-3 victory over the Bulldogs.
The 16th-ranked Rebels now await their bowl fate, which will be announced next Sunday following Saturday’s league championship games.

But there was no early letdown for the Rebels, who stunned the home crowd with three quick touchdowns to take a 21-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. On the other side, the Bulldogs are averaging 33.5 points per game and 316.3 passing yards per contest, but also have a habit of giving up plenty of yards in the passing game.
Stringfellow had five catches for 84 yards and two touchdowns.
Both of those touchdown passes were thrown to Damore’ea Stringfellow.
Johnson eventually signed with Ole Miss in February 2011 and received much criticism from Mississippi State fans on his Facebook page.
