Prime Minister Sharif gave a speech about Pakistan’s commitment to tackling climate change and his hope that the summit can achieve its objective which is a legally binding agreement to keep greenhouse gas emissions under a 2 degree Celsius increase from pre-industrial levels.

Natural Resources Defense Council President Rhea Suh said, “It has the potential to propel worldwide solar markets forward, all while fighting climate change, improving global health and boosting economies”. “Anything else would be morally wrong”, he wrote, adding: “Justice demands that, with what little carbon we can still safely burn, developing countries are allowed to grow”.

Explaining India’s position on the issue, Modi stressed that developed nations “powered their way to prosperity on fossil fuel” with technological helps.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reiterated that India with all seriousness would completely fulfill all its responsibilities with regard to climate change as he met U.S. President Barack Obama on the sidelines of the climate summit in Paris. “Yet India has not given its support to the global decarbonisation goals called by the Vulnerable Countries Forum, and is planning a huge expansion of coal-fired electricity over the next 15 years”, it said. 22 countries took part in the meeting.

“For that we must come together in a partnership to bring clean energy within the reach of all”.

Dr Radhakrishnan, said on August 14, from tomorrow we can not blame Britishers, whatever we do we will be responsible, said Modi. “The world has assembled in Paris to change the course of our planet to a sustainable path”, Mr. Modi said. That also means strong public commitment by suppliers to developing countries.

He said investments would be attracted in the solar sector, joint ventures encouraged and innovative financing mechanisms developed.

To highlight the importance of solar energy, Modi said that in Indian tradition, Sun is the source of all forms of energy.

The initiative is expected to encourage technology exchange and innovation and create new business opportunities in India and globally.
